Purple Kohlrabi Seedlings

Vibrant • Crisp • Cold-Hardy

Purple Kohlrabi is a striking cool-season vegetable that develops a round, purple swollen stem just above the soil. Its crisp texture and mild, slightly sweet flavor are often compared to a cross between cabbage and broccoli stems. Both the bulb-like stem and leaves are edible.

Enjoy Purple Kohlrabi raw in salads, slaws, and veggie trays, or roast, sauté, steam, grill, or add it to soups and stews. The leaves can be cooked similarly to collards, kale, or other leafy greens.

Fall & Cold Tolerance

Purple Kohlrabi thrives in cool fall weather and tolerates light frost well. Cool conditions generally support good-quality growth and crisp stems. Protection can help during severe or prolonged freezes.

Quick Growing Tips

Grow in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-draining soil and consistent moisture. Harvest while the swollen stems are still relatively young and tender rather than allowing them to become oversized and woody.
