A staple in Southern cooking, Vates Collards are excellent slow-cooked, sautéed, steamed, or added to soups and stews. They pair especially well with smoked meats, beans, garlic, onions, peppers, and traditional Southern and Caribbean seasonings.

Fall & Cold Tolerance

Vates Collards are very cold tolerant and perform especially well during cool fall weather. Established plants can handle frost, and cool temperatures can improve the leaves' sweetness and flavor. Protection may still be beneficial during severe or prolonged freezes.
